We are a gallery as well as a community store.
The community we located in is called Pearl's Hill, where many adventures, surprises, changes, tension, and anticipation emerge from here. There is also a lot of interaction, companionship, support, and resistance. Although it is located in a very central area of Singapore, many people have never set foot here as it’s on a small hill.
It feels like an island, yet also like a hole.
The island represents how we see ourselves. The formation of this place is collective. It is an artistic enclave, a small utopia for many of us. All the shop owners around us are gentle and lovely, each with their own creativity. Often, when we have free time, we sit together and talk about our little dreams. You will not find such a space and community in Singapore anymore.
The hole represents how those “above” see us. It is a space deemed worthy of development, even though it is undeniably a living entity.
For us, Round&Round signifies the repeated yet continually ascending process of design. We really enjoy the surprises and uncertainty that come with the handmade process, which further fosters more interactions and connections with people. Believing that, we aim to seek out stories rather than products. We want to know the artists in person and understand the stories behind the handmade creations. It is about the relationships with different people, and our connection with nature.
